A WELCOME FROM THE FOUNDING DIRECTOR
Welcome to the Center for Community-Engaged Dissemination and Implementation Research (CCEDIR) at the Indiana University School of Public Health–Bloomington!
CCEDIR was created to be more than a center. It’s a movement toward transforming how we work with communities, not for them. Our vision is to foster meaningful, sustained, and equitable partnerships that advance population health and create healthier communities for everyone.
We know that evidence alone doesn’t change lives, but relationships do. That’s why our work is grounded in listening, learning, and linking knowledge to action through trust, shared power, and reciprocity. We bring together community organizations, faculty, students, and practitioners who are passionate about making research accessible, actionable, and impactful in the real world.
Here’s what makes CCEDIR unique: our community partners, staff, students, and faculty are CCEDIR. Every conversation, collaboration, and commitment we build together shapes this movement. Whether you’re coordinating a community event, mentoring a student, developing a research proposal, or sharing your lived experience. You are part of the story we’re writing together.
At CCEDIR, our work is guided by six powerful ENGAGE goals: Engage, Nurture, Generate, Advance, Galvanize, and Equip. To learn more about our ENGAGE goals and how we utilze them to push our mission forward, read here.
Here’s the truth: there is room at our table and in our movement for anyone whose work centers community. Whether your interests lie in community-engaged research, community-based participatory research, implementation science, implementation research, or dissemination research, you belong here. All that is required is a focus on COMMUNITY — informed, participative, participatory, and driven.
I invite you to explore our site, learn about our ongoing initiatives, and connect with us. Not just to witness the movement, but to join it. Together, we can build systems of care and research that reflect the values, voices, and visions of the communities we serve.
Let’s not just join the moment of community engagement. Let’s be part of the movement.
Warmly,
Priscilla Barnes, MPH, PhD
