The ENGAGE Framework

The ENGAGE Framework

The work and activities of CCEDIR are guided by the ENGAGE goals, which serve as a roadmap for community-engaged research, practice, and partnership. Each goal reflects an important component of effective collaboration and is supported by a range of activities, resources, and opportunities designed to strengthen relationships, build capacity, and create sustainable improvements in health and well-being.

We begin by listening. Through community forums, listening sessions, and early collaboration, we create opportunities for community members, organizations, and partners to shape priorities, identify needs, and guide decision-making from the very start.

Strong partnerships are built on trust, relationships, and shared purpose. We cultivate meaningful community-academic connections through ongoing dialogue, cross-sector convenings, and collaborative spaces that strengthen networks and support long-term collective impact.

Together, we build knowledge, skills, and capacity for action. Through learning forums, workshops, and student engagement opportunities, we support communities and researchers in developing practical approaches to addressing complex health challenges.

We work with partners to identify priorities and develop solutions that reflect local needs and strengths. By supporting community health assessments, asset mapping, and evidence-informed planning, we help ensure that initiatives are relevant, responsive, and positioned for success.

Ideas become impact through action. We facilitate structured planning processes, support the launch of community-driven initiatives, and help coordinate implementation and evaluation efforts that move priorities from discussion to practice.

Meaningful results deserve meaningful sharing. We help partners communicate findings and impact through accessible reports, presentations, policy translation, and other dissemination strategies that inform decision-makers, funders, and community members alike.

Communities are abundant with assets, gifts, and talents. It is not the role of academia to dictate, but to listen, support, and walk alongside them in their journey to improve health.
